"Teaching is my greatest inspiration as a musician and watching my students develop musically and grow intellectually is rewarding and exciting. It continually motivates me to improve myself as a musician."

Hello! I am Megan Miller the owner and director of Lively Strings Studio. I am a cellist, a wife and mother, and I love sharing my experience and knowledge with others. Teaching is one of my greatest inspirations. I believe teaching encourages me to learn and learning inspires me to teach. Because of this, watching my students grow musically and intellectually is beyond rewarding and gives me a great sense of accomplishment.

I studied music performance at Towson University and earned a Bachelor’s of Music in Cello Performance. While I studied at Towson, I was a member of the school’s student chapter for American String Teachers Association. During the majority of my time at Towson, I was the principal cellist of the Towson University Symphony Orchestra. I also competed in the School’s various music competitions, successfully winning first prize in the Talent Award for Strings competition and first prize in the prestigious Peggy Friedman-Gordon Competition.

Prior to college, I grew up in Harford County and was involved in various music groups. Throughout middle and high school, I participated in the Harford String and Harford Youth Orchestras. I also had exciting opportunities to participate in collaborations with the Deer Creek Choral and other various music communities.

In addition to providing private cello lessons, I am currently the cello clinician for the Harford String and Harford Youth Orchestras. I provide private lessons, workshops focusing on technique and musicality for school orchestras and other organizations, and music for various events. As I look to the future, I plan to begin taking personal music lessons again, join a community orchestra, and continue developing relationships with fellow musicians throughout Maryland.
